Friday 23rd August 2024 marked the momentous occasion of the collaboration between the Most Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara and Damrivi Foundation, to further improve the provision of mental health services and teaching of Buddhist philosophy in Sri Lanka.
The felicitation ceremony for Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara and his delegates and the opening of the Sitagu Dhamma Centre was graced with the presence of Damrivi Foundation patron The Most Venerable Aggamahapanditha Tirikunamale Ananda Mahanayaka Thero, Damrivi Foundation Chairperson Emeritus Professor Asanga Tilakaratne and the Damrivi Foundation Board of Trustees.
Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara explained the three steps that enable us to reach enlightenment: sīla (moral behaviour that abides by the precepts in the Dhamma), samādhi (meditation to develop a focused mind), and finally paññā (wisdom). These steps establish a strong basis of how to live morally and peacefully, and underpins the remarkable work Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara and his delegates have contributed to in the realms of healthcare and Buddhist education.
