The inauguration ceremony for the 21st batch of the Internship in Counselling was held on the 13th of July 2024 at the Damrivi Foundation premises. The internship program provides an opportunity to develop practical counselling competencies in local community settings, while nurturing the transformative practices of self-reflection and effective communication that contribute to developing a conscientious counsellor.
Participants were warmly welcomed by Damrivi Foundation Chairman Prof. Asanga Thilakaratne, and Board of Trustees members Dr. Mallika Karunaratne and Dr. Soma De Silva, who, as the Head of Counselling and Education, led a thought-provoking discussion on the highest virtues a counsellor may possess, especially from a Buddhist philosophical perspective, and how these may be applied in clinical practice.
